Battery Guard 2000 100A
Battery Guard 2000 200A
NO MORE FLAT BATTERIES WITH BATTERY GUARD 2000!
Battery Guard system is intended to be used in vehicles to prevent the battery from inadvertently being discharged by some unwanted load.
This may happen if a light or an other accessory is left on for long periods of time.
Battery Guard 2000 constantly monitors the voltage level on the battery to determine the level of charge.
When the voltage drops below 12.1 / 24.1 volts for approximately 4 minutes and the ignition is off, Battery Guard 2000 will automatically disconnect the battery from the vehicle’s electrical system. If the ignition switch is turned on, the system will not disconnect the battery under any circumstances. This feature prevents a shutdown in the event of a charging system failure while driving.
When the battery is disconnected, a LED indicator on the dash mounted switch blinks to let the driver know that the system has disconnected the battery. To reconnect the battery, the driver needs to press the momentary switch. The system now allows the driver 4 minutes to start the vehicle before the battery disconnects again.
Benefits
- Guarantees STARTING POWER
- Automatically isolates batteries when necessary
- Helps prevent vehicle breakdowns / Call out charges
- Helps minimise Down Time / Late Deliveries / Irate Customers
- Saves time and money
- Can also be used as Manual Battery Isolator -- Security
- Protects and Extends Battery life -- reduce replacement frequency
Battery Guard System Operation
- System designed to prevent "Flat Batteries" in vehicles
- When ignition "off" or "accessory" position --- and current is drawn; (eg. Lights left on, Radio, Phone etc.) system automatically isolates the batteries after 4 minute continuous power drain at a voltage level that gives the vehicle operator a guarantee of re-starting his/her vehicle.
- When battery voltage is uniformly less that 12.1 (24.1) volts for more than 4 minutes the battery will be isolated
- System wired into battery power supply
- The LED switch on dash will blink to indicate battery has been isolated
- Driver "Flicks" dash mount reset switch and starts vehicle
- Ignition Override - When ignition switch is turned on, the unit will not isolate the battery regardless of the voltage level
- Manual Isolation if required --- Press and hold the Reset Switch for 3 seconds engages the system manually -- (anti-theft, unauthorised use of vehicle etc.). Switch can be mounted in secret position if preferred.
What is the "real" cost of a flat battery?
The answer to this question will vary from fleet to fleet.
Let’s look at the potential costs involved in a flat battery “Non Start”.
- Damage to battery – 1 deep cycle can reduce a battery life by as much as 50%.
- Potential damage to voltage sensitive components from a “jump start” many vehicle manufactures now state, do not jump start!
- Stress & strain on alternator, starter motor, tail lift pumps with low voltage operation.
- Driver and vehicle downtime – how much per hour?
- Late delivery to customers – possible lost accounts.
- Cost of jump start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can the Battery Guard isolate while the vehicle is moving?
A. No, the orange cable in the wiring loom is connected to an ignition or alternator source, voltage sensing is inhibited when the engine is running.
Q. Once isolated does the relay delay current?
A. No, the Battery Guard relay uses a patented latching relay and utilises power to switch on & off only then for 0.2 seconds.
Q. How long does it take to install the Battery Guard?
A. This depends on the vehicle, with the dedicated kits we provide, an average of 3 hours is a good rule of thumb.
